Improve Your Mental Health

Feeling stressed? Check out these 5 useful tips and find out what works best for you.

So how can we improve how we feel and maintain good mental health? It’s all about balance and finding out what works for you. There are lots of things you can try:

  1. Family & Friends

Spending time with people who make us feel good, who lift our spirits and provide a positive influence such as family and friends. Build a strong support network and maintain those relationships.

  1. Physical Activity

If the thought of running around a field or throwing balls in nets fills you with dread find something that you enjoy. Going on walks, cycling, joining a dance class (or there are some great YouTube dance tutorials if you don’t fancy a class) all count. Being active improves your mood, combats depression and makes you feel good about yourself.

  1. Seek Advice

Asking for help is not a weakness, it’s a strength. You’re more likely to improve your mental health or recover from mental illness if you find proper expert support.

  1. Set Realistic Goals

When it feels like everything is getting on top of you it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and helpless. By setting small manageable goals for yourself, rather than one giant goal, you’ll achieve far more and feel less burdened.

  1. Get Outdoors

Research shows that spending time outside, such as in a park or garden, boosts self-esteem and improves negative thoughts. We like to eat our lunch in the local green space and hang out with mates and a picnic in the park on weekends (we really like food based activities…).
