Rising Futures: Participation Now!
Make it Happen
Thursday 17 March 2016, 10am-4pm at the Roundhouse, Camden
Building on the huge success of last year’s event, as well as our national youth voice research project ReWired, Wired4Music, hosted by Sound Connections, proudly present the 2016 Rising Futures: Participation Now!
Participation doesn’t just mean taking part – it’s about empowering people to take the lead in shaping their own opportunities and ideas. 2016 sees the fourth annual celebration of youth voice and leadership as part of Roundhouse Rising Festival, curated and led by Wired4Music; the young Londoner’s music network. We’re taking this chance to bring together organisations, young leaders and youth boards from across the UK who are actively engaged with youth voice and leadership, or keen to be.
Last year we explored the theme Community; the final of our Manifesto themes, and discussed how young people and organisations can work together to build and strengthen musical communities. Everyone at the event came away feeling inspired and this year we hope to build on this inspiration and Make it Happen.
What do we need to do so that more young people have the opportunity to take the lead? What good examples can we learn from? What’s missing? How can everyone work together to build a stronger offer?
Whether as leaders, artists, producers, educators or audiences, we will shape a new musical action plan.
The day aims to bring together energy and enthusiasm for great youth leadership practice; commit to collective pledges that increase young people’s power to shape their own musical opportunities, communities and future; and give organisations and young people tools and resources to inspire new youth voice practice.
Who is the day for?
Organisations and people aged 16-25 who are actively engaged in youth voice, or keen to be. We are inviting organisations/projects to bring two 16-25s, accompanied by a member of staff.
What does it involve?
How do you register?
