NOISE: A Celebration of Independent Music and Culture in London

On November 16th, a diverse and talented line-up of independent artists from across London took to the stage at Ministry, a private members club and workspace located in SE1 in Southwark, for a night of live music and jamming. The event, called NOISE, was a showcase of emerging music and the sounds of the underground scene, featuring genres such as rap, R&B, soul, and jazz.

NOISE was produced by culture agency What Does Not (WDN), in collaboration with us at Wired4Music, a network of young people aged 16-25 who are passionate about music in London. The event also served as a mentorship programme for four aspiring event producers from Wired4Music, who worked closely with the WDN team to learn about the ins and outs of producing a live show. We would like to give a MASSIVE shout out to the team: Nathan Hough, Anamaria, Anne Marie, and Xanne for all their help in preparing to make this event happen – you guys smashed it!❤

The line-up included eight artists who delivered captivating and original performances, ranging from the smooth and soulful vocals of Aaron Anderson and Scarlet, to the energetic and witty rap of Jafro and Luke November. The audience also enjoyed the eclectic and experimental sounds of Daniel and Ashaine, as well as the expressive and emotive musicianship of Yali (plays two saxophones at once!!) and Elly J Devon.

The event was not only a showcase, but also a community jam, as the artists invited the audience to join them on stage for a freestyle session. The jam was a highlight of the night, as it demonstrated the spirit of collaboration and creativity that NOISE and Wired4Music live events celebrate. The audience and the artists interacted with each other, creating spontaneous and memorable moments of music and culture.

NOISE was a successful and inspiring event that highlighted the talent and diversity of independent music in London. It also provided a platform and a learning opportunity for young people who want to pursue their passion and career in the music industry. The event was a testament to the power and potential of music as a tool for social change and empowerment.
