Are you a young classical musician aged 14-24? The Big Music Project competition will give you the chance to take your next career step and win an incredible prize.
Classic FM has joined forces with the people behind The Classic BRITs to announce The Big Music Project Competition – a UK-wide search for the brightest young performer talent, organised in conjunction with The Next BRIT Thing.
The competition is part of The Big Music Project, a UK-wide initiative funded by The Big Lottery fund, designed to help young people take their love of music and turn it into their next career step. Alongside the competition, the project will see thousands of young people attend industry careers events and develop new skills as they take part in work experience placements or deliver music projects within their communities.
Entries for the contemporary category are now closed but classical entries have until 12 December.
The competition welcomes performances of any instrument or voice in the classical style. Young musicians can create a profile for themselves on The Big Music Project website and post links to their performances. Those attracting at least 30 public votes will have their work listened to by music industry executives and the best will be invited to perform at the finals during BRITs week in February 2015.
