As part of the Embedded programme, Sound and Music and BBC Symphony Orchestra are offering an opportunity for 3 composers to spend 11 months in residence with the orchestra, developing their skills in writing for orchestra and having new works premiered.
During this project the composers will have the opportunity to gain inside knowledge of all aspects of the working life of the orchestra, working closely with players, conductor Pierre-André Valade, the BBC SO management team, and observing and participating in Learning projects. The 11-month process will involve two workshops and final performances will be recorded for broadcast in BBC Radio 3’s Hear and Now.
All activities will take place at the orchestra’s home in Maida Vale studios.
The application deadline is noon Wednesday 11 March.
