Since its creation in 2005, Aurora Orchestra has established itself as a major new force on the UK’s classical music landscape, reaching new audiences with virtuosic performance, innovative programming and inspiring cross-arts partnerships.
Aurora is recruiting for a Projects Assistant to support the delivery of its calendar of activities, including concerts, broadcasts and recordings, and a busy learning and participation programme. Based at the orchestra’s headquarters at Kings Place in north London, the position offers a superb opportunity to gain a rich and varied insight into orchestral administration with one of the UK’s most dynamic and innovative young arts organisations as it continues its rapid ascent.
Working at the heart of Aurora’s small management team, the Projects Assistant will support the work of all members of the senior management team with a particular focus on production requirements and stage management for concerts and education projects, as well as general office administration.
Combining a variety of office-based functions with practical responsibilities at rehearsals, performances, recording sessions and on tour, this role will demand excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills, combined with flexibility, efficiency and initiative. The successful candidate will share Aurora’s commitment to artistic excellence and innovation, and will have experience of working within an orchestral context. Because of Aurora’s special focus on learning and participation, enthusiasm for arts education in schools and other settings beyond the concert hall will also be essential. As part of the role the Projects Assistant will be required to carry out stage management duties and oversee the transport of equipment for all projects.
