Are you a spoken word artist, poet, composer or musician? The Roundhouse are looking to team up 4 performance poets with 4 musicians to create 4 new works that respond to themes of race and gender. Join composer Jasmin Kent Rodgman across 6 sessions where you will be creating new works combining music and spoken word, addressing our experiences of, and challenging perceptions of, identity and otherness.

The project will include industry + artist Q&A panels, special guest performances and creative writing workshops. You have the option of bringing your own musical instrument into the mix, but we will be providing musicians in the form of a string trio (violin, viola, cello) and percussion/drums, for you to write/create music with. At the end of the six sessions, each pair will perform/present the work they have created to family and friends, as well as invited industry guests and artists.

You need to have some experience and skills in your respective field to be able to deliver a piece of work within the allocated timeframe. Musicians – reading/writing music is useful but not a strict requirement. This project is dedicated to equality within the arts, and welcomes applicants from a range of backgrounds and poetry/music disciplines – please email PerformingArts.Team@Roundhouse.org.uk if you have any questions.

Application deadline:
Monday 13th January 2020, 5pm.
