Rich Mix New Creatives is for young people between the ages of 16- 24yrs old currently not in full time education or employment, who are interested in developing their creative skills in digital media, design, fashion, dance, music, and drama.

90s & Now is an exploration of the 90s through fashion trends, music, and culture, explored through the art of documentary making with filmmaker & producer Emile Socialize, director of sneaker lover documentary Sole Seekers https://soleseekersfilm.com

As a crew young people will create and document this journey through interviews, vox pops, images, film,  and 90s influences. They will also compose a poetic narrative facilitated by Rich Mix Associate Artist,  poet and radio presenter Mr Gee(Hyperlink https://soundcloud.com/mr-gee-poet

We’ll have fun exploring the music of the decade and its cross over into samples now, enjoying classics of the time from Drum n Bass, Hip Hop, R’n’B, and Pop. By exploring sounds and beats, we will create some remixes and visit Strongroom Studios https://www.strongroom.com which has had a whole host of UK artists record there from So Solid, to the Spice Girls and Adele.

The fun does not stop there as we look at themes & culture through art & design for an exhibition, and explore fashion through clothes customisation with Jahmale Jahmale, founder of fashion brand Melaninaire & Denim Reconlondon   www.melaninaire.co.uk

This all culminates in a two-day festival at Rich Mix, showcasing the documentary, a 90s exhibition and live performances to kick off your summer that will be open to the public and local community.
