The Department of Music and the Outreach Office at Goldsmiths, University of London are delighted to announce the launch of a new Music Summer School to take place from 1 – 5 July 2013.
They are offering 30 young people from London the chance to participate (free of charge) in a 5-day intensive summer school which will involve teaching from professional musicians, academics and the opportunity to work alongside Goldsmiths undergraduate music students. This summer school will provide access for a wide range of musicians and students to work within a music department with a world leading reputation.
The summer school provides a packed week of creative and fun music making developing participants’ skills as performers, songwriters or composers. Intensive practical sessions working in groups will be supported by daily morning sessions in music theory, aural and sight reading as well as introductory sessions in creative digital music, gamelan, music for film and tv, and tasters of university lectures.
Each afternoon participants will work towards a final performance choosing from three main strands of activity: Composition/Songwriting, Chamber/Early/Traditional Music, and Rock/Pop/Urban music
