Not So Popular is a DIY collective, with an ever-expanding bunch of new creatives working across our events & zines.

Founded in 2010, Not So Popular has put on many London events – from running feminist clubnight $ister $ister, to hosting panel debates and an affordable arts night Poetry For A Pound. Their new series PEAKS combines art, talks and DJS to create a place for people to discuss their ideas, with a drink in hand.

Their publications range from zines to art books, and in 2013, the team were involved in creating the art book Let’s Start A Pussy Riot – a non profit endeavour to raise awareness and funds of the Pussy Riot case. Featuring artists and writers such as Yoko Ono and Kim Gordon, the book was published by Rough Trade and launched in London and New York.

We believe in collectives. We believe in the ‘myriad of different voices drumming along the inner-city streets with creative cries’.

Not So Popular take their inspiration from the depths of cultural talent, because everything from Van Gogh’s ear to Brian Harvey’s baked potato were not so popular at one point.
