Calling all unsigned artists; your time has come. In association with established new music experts NME, we’re giving you the chance to win your single pressed onto vinyl and record your track with a renowned music producer.
Launching on 16 April 2016 alongside the 9th anniversary of world renowned Record Store Day, Berwick Street Calling is open to all music genres nationwide. Once your chosen track is submitted, it will be put to a judging panel of leading music industry names to create a shortlist of 10 tracks. NME‘s new music editor Matt Wilkinson, independent local radio station Soho Radio, Music Director at House of St Barnabas Sav Remzi and the man behind one of Soho’s premier vinyl retailers, Phil Barton at Sister Ray.
Renowned for being one of the most vibrant areas in London for independent record stores – with Sister Ray, Reckless Records, Sounds of the Universe and Phonica in the area – Berwick Street has always been a hub for up-and-coming artists. The vinyl rebirth is well and truly underway, and now it’s your time to get a piece of the action.
From 7 June, it’s over to the general public to vote for their favourite out of the ten tracks shortlisted by the industry pros. This isn’t just a chance to get your single pressed onto vinyl; we’ll be giving the winning artist the opportunity to have 1,000 copies of the vinyl stocked in some of the most iconic independent record shops across Soho.
