We are looking for three Wired4Music members to work on the Sound
Connections workforce development programme.
This is a series of events designed to help practitioners to improve their music teaching and
make it more inclusive and accessible.

You would be working with Abi D’Amore who oversees the workforce
development programme, with input from Brenda Rattray who is curating
and hosting the content.

If you are interested in music education, and possibly working with
children and young people either now or in the future, this opportunity is
for you!

You would need to be available on the following dates and times for online
and live events:
  • Thursday 27th January: 4.30pm-6.30pm (online)
  • Tuesday 8th Feb: 10am-12pm (online)
  • TBC in March x 2 hours (online)
  • Thursday 7th April: 9am – 5.30pm (Amnesty International building,
    Shoreditch, London)

Opportunity 1: Writer / speaker / illustrator

In this role you will attend each of the training events, listen to the
speakers, and prepare some sort of reflection.

This could be:

  • a piece of writing,
  • spoken word,
  • poetry,
  • illustration

That captures your thoughts on
the themes.

Your reflection will be shared with delegates and the speaker
as part of the follow up to the event.

If you would like to share verbally,
there will also be opportunities to do this.


You will be somebody who is good at listening, and framing your own
thoughts in a way others can understand.

You will also have an interest in
developing your own understanding in music education.

What is involved?

  • Briefing session on the work
  • Attendance at each training event and debrief session afterwards
  • Involvement in the planning process for the Inclusive Practice in
  • Action conference, attendance at the event and debrief afterwards

 

Fee: £331.50 (30 hours x £11.05)
Timeframe: January – April 2022
Opportunity 2: Inclusion and accessibility advisor

In this role you will attend each of the training events and advise the SC
team on ways in which these events could be made more inclusive and
accessible to other Wired4Music members.
You will advise on language used in marketing, and suggest
changes as we go along.
You will be involved in creating an inclusive environment at the one-day Inclusive Practice in Action conference.
This will involve doing some research into dressing the space to make it
accessible, calm and welcoming to all, and helping on the day with getting
the space set up.

You will be somebody who understands the importance of inclusion and
access.
You may be somebody who is interested in event design, and
would like to have a go at supporting ‘dressing’ a live event.
You may also have an interest in developing your own understanding in music
education.

What is involved?

  • Briefing session on the work
    Attendance at each training event and debrief session afterwards
  • Involvement in the planning process for the Inclusive Practice in Action conference,
  • Attendance at the event
  • Debrief afterwards

Fee: £331.50 (30 hours x £11.05)
Timeframe: January – April 2022

Opportunity 3: Producer
In this role you will support each of the online and live events.

 

Depending on your interest and expertise, this may involve admitting participants,
supporting with technology and music in the online events.

 

At the live full day conference this may involve ensuring speakers / workshop leaders
have the right technology, assisting with the smooth running of the event,
and making sure delegates know where they should go.

If you have skills in video editing, these may also be drawn upon!


You will be somebody with an interest in supporting online and live
training events, possibly with an interest in film editing.What is involved?

    • Involvement in the planning process for the Inclusive Practice in
    • Action conference, attendance at the event and debrief afterwards
