Want a hands-on introduction to studio recording and live sound engineering? Get practical experience at a one-day project run by Omnii Collective at the Roundhouse.

What will I get from taking part?

By taking part in this project you will:
• Get hands-on studio recording experience and learn about signal flow, microphone types and techniques, studio software and how to use a mixing desk
• Learn how to set up a stage, sound-check and mix a live performance
• Attend an optional clinic session for advice on your own projects


Who will be teaching the project?
Naomi Jackson is a musician and sound engineer based in South-East London, and a founder member of Omnii Collective. She has most recently released an extended sound work, Partner//Emotive via South East London-based label, The Lumen Lake, and has previously worked as a sound designer on Rachael Young’s ‘OUT’, which won the Space to Dance Award 2017. She is currently touring as the sound engineer for ‘NIGHTCLUBBING’, and has previously toured with the anti-virtuoso drag king band The Great White Males.

Francine Perry is a producer, mixer and recording engineer based in London.
She is the in resident engineer at Mute Records, working extensively with artists on the label. Outside of Mute she has worked with artists including Beth Orton, Femme and Fran Lobo. Francine composes music under the moniker La Leif and has released 3 EPs under this name. She also won an Oram award in 2018 which recognizes innovation in music, sound and related technologies.

Joy Stacey is a studio engineer currently based at Goldsmiths Music Studios in South East London, working with a range of artists from jazz, to pop and indie. She is also a musician and composer.

Phoebe is a freelance live sound engineer, bedroom producer, and singer-songwriter. Their recent work includes engineering for artist Rita Evans at ArtsAdmin, writing the zine ‘Figure of Eight: a zine for womxn and non-binary sound enthusiasts’, and playing in their band Stella Abattoir. Phoebe is interested in radical collective action, and pictures of dogs on Instagram.
