If you’ve ever thought about starting your own event but weren’t sure where to start, this is the masterclass for you! Whether you want to put on an open mic or spoken word night, monthly cabaret or scratch evening, mini-festival or any other kind of performance event, we’re here to help you learn the skills to make it a reality.

What will I get from taking part?
By the end of the project you will:

  • Have received advice and had your questions answered by a panel of experts.
  • Have learnt more about how others have started grassroots events on shoestring budgets, and grown them to be reoccurring and popular.
  • Have learnt the steps you need to follow to make a successful event, and about the challenges and practicalities involved.
  • Have learnt about the support networks and funding opportunities available to you when producing events in London and beyond.
  • Have learnt where you can gain valuable work experience in this field.
  • Have made industry contacts and networked with peers and professionals in the industry.

Who will be teaching the project?
A panel of experts, including producers, programmers and curators of both small local events and larger-scale festivals.

Do I need any particular skills or experience to take part?
