The Flipside Youth Film Festival is an annual showcase of short films under 10 minutes made by Young People aged 10-25 from across London. The festival is managed by Youth Animation and Media and funded by the Big Lottery’s Young Peoples Fund.
Film submissions are free and winning shorts are screened in front of a general audience at major venues such as the bfi Southbank, Shortwave Cinema, etc.
We are happy to accept submissions all year round but the deadline to enter your short film to the current years festival is 5th April 2013.
We accept films made within the last 2 years and are under 10 minutes in duration. We love to receive films of all genres so whether your film is a documentary, an animation, a drama or experimental, all are welcome. It is FREE to submit your film to our festival. Please read our Terms and Conditions on the Submission Form before completing and posting it to us with a DVD copy of your film.
The Flipside Youth Team selects a shortlist from all the entries across the 3 different age categories:

We host several screenings throughout May every year at internationally recognised venues such as the bfi Southbank, the Ritzy, Shortwave and Whirled Cinema.
Winners will be announced at a special screening at the bfi Southbank. Prizes include fantastic bumper goodie bags, trophies and certificates. We endeavour to screen as many films as possible during the festival in May.
In addition, we also ask our festival audiences to pick their favourite film throughout all public screenings. We then award the winning film with a prize. All winning films will be showcased on our website after the festival on a dedicated Winners page.
In 2012 we also plan to bring a Pop Up screening to a school, youth centre or outdoor space near you!
