We are devastated to hear of the death of Kenny Mukendi. Kenny was a hugely popular member of Wired4Music and a talented musician who will be greatly missed. Our thoughts are with Kenny’s family and loved ones at this tragic time.

Kenny’s gifts shone through from the moment you met him. He exuded passion and raw talent and was a pleasure to work with. I first met him when he took to the stage at City Hall as part of Wired4Music rapping in French with his band, Mammoth Sound. I thought it was incredible and everyone in the room agreed. At Wired4Music, we had the good fortune of working with him on several projects and watching his career go from strength to strength. His passing is a great loss and his creativity will be missed. I hope he is now at peace. Helen Finnegan, Wired4Music member.

We are all greatly saddened to hear of the tragic passing of Kenny Mukendi. He brought his unique energy and thoughtful insights to many Wired4Music meetings over the years. He was always immersed in a multitude of musical projects, travelling the world from a young age to record and perform. He will be missed by everyone who knew and worked with him. Lawrence Becko, previous Sound Connections Programme Manager who worked with Kenny through Wired4Music.

Back in 2012 we featured Kenny’s band Mammoth Sound and spoke to Kenny about his music. He was motivated and passionate and hoped to show this through everything that he created: “I love writing it allows me to vent, express myself and to be creative with the scenery around me” and to express the “random ideas in my head and current events or events that have happened in my life.”  To read the full feature click here
