Hey everyone, it’s Ackeem,

I’ve just put together some links I thought may be useful for you guys: these are websites to scholarships and grants from universities, trusts and organisations like Wired4Music. You will need to search for what you are eligible for, and for most of you that will be a lot of different scholarships. These aren’t exclusively for people going onto university – you could be going onto college or just wanting to get a project started but have no money.

All of these are suggestions and just a starting point – there will be a scholarship out there that you can apply for 😀

IdeasTap – A site many people hear about but often forget, great for any creative field and always cool competitions happening.

Adobe Youth Voices Awards – This is where I recently got my scholarship of £10,000 a year for up to four years, thanks to the wonderful Amy. There are always competitions for creative people, workshops, masterclasses… if there’s a competition you would like to enter but don’t have the tools or know how, ask people around you.

The Scholarship Hub – Look around on the site, play with the options and there should be a scholarship for you. There are crazy scholarships e.g. £500 grants for vegetarians, £500 for family members of greengrocers… there are also subject specific grants and so on… (I usually change the institute dropdown to “No specific university” and search so you don’t get tons of scholarships that you can’t apply for because you aren’t at that uni).

Uni Grants UK – Another great site with a lot of different options. There are area and subject specific scholarships; just look through the options and see what works for you.

Making Music – This seemed like a useful link for members of Wired4Music. They are an organisation who run a lot of voluntary music opportunities.

Youth Music – Another good site I came across for Wired4Music members. Youth Music fund Sound Connections and Wired4Music. They have just launched a new funding programme which you can read about here.

Funding Central – This is a free resource for charities, voluntary organisations and social enterprises. There is loads of information on here about different kinds of funding, and you can sign up to their newsletter which keeps you updated.
